Basic stuff...

If you saw the last Meejah video, you may remember that at the end I said that I would be doing one on how to make things appear, and disappear using Windows Movie Maker (or any other video editor for that matter).

I know there will be many of you out there that already know how to do this and will regard it as basic stuff, but of course, not everyone knows how to do this. There was a time when I ( and you) didn't know how to do it, and I can still remember the delight I felt when I stumbled on how it was done (and how easy it was to do). I used it - inappropriately - in every video I made for ages - just 'cos I could.

So there will be many people out there who are brand-spanking-new to the world of video editing, to whom this will come as a revelation and it is for them that I will be making the video.

I will move on to more sophisticated techniques and tricks as time moves on, but I will start with the basics so that in the future I will have a reference library of video's to point to when people ask "How do I..."?

So, if you don't know how to do this basic (but very useful) effect (FX), then stay tuned to the Meejah channel 'cos it's coming in the next vid, and if you do know how to do it, stay tuned as well because things will get increasing interesting as time goes on.

By the way, If I don't see you before... Merry Christmas and a Happy new year - and keep making those videos.

p.s. - Just for fun, here's a video Xmas message from my Alter Ego - Elfed Welshbloke

Want to know how to edit video on Windows Movie Maker? - It's here!

It's up! - Meejah episode 2 is up and running. As promised in the first episode, it is basically a tutorial about where to find, and how to use microsofts free video editor "windows movie maker" (WMM) - With some humerous additions.

There are many people who would like to be making their own videos, and yet are still not aware that they have a free video editor that came along with their Windows operating system.

The editor is basic when compared to stuff like final cut pro, but is perfect for beginners to video editing, and contains everything you need to make your own video.

With it you can capture video from a webcam, or upload it from your camera. You can cut, trim and rearrange your video clips, add transitions and special effects, titles and credits, music and narrations, and save you finished movie as a video file, or even upload it to youtube.

It is extremely easy to use, as demonstrated in the video - We even make a complete (albeit short), movie in under a minute.

The video introduces you to all the various functions of WMM, and demonstrates how to use them to produce your own professional looking movies.

So, what are you waiting for? - watch the video, then go and play with windows movie maker - not only is it easy to use, It's fun!

Another free music file added to the Meejah collection

Another free (licence free) music file has been added to the collection. It's called "The Gathering", is in the "Trance" style and is 2 m 15 s in duration.

There are ten music files in the collection at the moment. All the music is licence free, "Youtube safe" and is ideal for use in your videos (Youtube or otherwise), and other media projects.

The whole collection of music can be found at the Meejah website  www.meejah.co.uk  just click on the tab entitled "Music", and help your self.

I am now working on the second Meejah video, which will show (those not in the know), where to find, and how to use Windows Movie Maker (WMM), the free video editor that comes with windows.

See you there.

More Free (licence free) Music

Just another quick note about the licence-free music that I'm putting up on the Meejah site ( www.meejah.co.uk)
There are a number of different styles of music that you can download there - You can find them, appropriately enough, under the "Free music" tab.

The music files are all "Youtube safe" which means that you can use them without upsetting Youtube and having your videos pulled for musical copright issues.

The example in the video below is called "Epic" and it's an example of the "Filmic" style As I say there's plenty more at the Meejah website ( www.meejah.co.uk), so get over there and take a look.

Enjoy  :)

Licence-free music - avoid being busted by the Youtube police!

Hi,
Those of you who have ever published more than a handful of videos on Youtube will know that they're pretty keen on copyright issues 'n stuff. Use any old music to back your vids and you could find yourself in hot water with the Youtube police.

I have fallen foul of this myself in the past, and have had video's sound muted, and sometimes had to remove the whole video because my music was not licensed.

If you are hoping to make money from your Youtube videos, then this is vital because Youtube become very, VERY touchy about the use of non-licenced stuff in your monetised vids.

The answer of course is to purchase a license to use said music - but this is not cheap. There are a few places that will give you license-free music to use in your videos, but this is usually for private use only - Put them into a vid that you will be making money off, and you could find them coming after to pay your license fees (and possibly legal fees as well)

Being heartily fed-up with the situation, I now only use music that I have created and produced myself, and I have decided to make my musical efforts available free to anyone who wishes to make their own videos or media projects.

And you can use them in all your projects private OR commercial - That's right, I won't come after you for payment three years down the line, so you are safe. They are quite varied in both style and length of play - Check one out in the video below.

There are very few restrictions as to their use (check them out on the web page), and they will have to be credited in your project - But that's it!

You can find and download them from:  http://meejah.co.uk

Enjoy

Up and Running.

Yay! - Meejah is up and running and the first video has been posted. It's a wee bit rough around the edges but I'll sort those things out as time goes on.

In this first vid I talk about how easy it is to make your own videos - Even if you haven't got a camera, how you've probably already got all the equipment you need, and even how you can make some money doing this further down the line. You can find links to all any websites I mention in this video at

http://meejah.co.uk

 Look under the "Resources tab"

Hope you enjoy the vid

Getting it together

Another quick update.

I've just finished building the Meejah website - in it's infancy at the moment, but it's the place where you will be able to find all the links and resources that I will be mentioning in Meejah videos. I had a bit of trouble with the domain registration thing, because I have never done stuff like this before - BUT! - now it is up and running.

It's a bit sparse on content at the moment, but that will be remedied as time goes on.

However, there is already a section carrying Royalty free music of different styles that you can freely use in your videos without the Youtube Music police coming round to sort you out!

If you'd like to check it out, here's the link:

http://meejah.co.uk/

It would be a good idea to bookmark it as I will be adding more content (and free music 'n stuff) as time goes on.
Cya soon.

Stuff goin' on!

Just a quick update.
I've been a busy boy over the last two days. I've created "The Meejah Channel" Youtube channel where all the forthcoming "How to" videos will be hosted, as and when they are made. There is nothing on the site as yet of course, as I'm still busy setting things up, but if you can't wait to subscribe (I know you can't), you could always get in early and subscribe now :) - Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheMeejahChannell

I am also half way through (or thereabouts) building a Meejah website where I will have more tips and tricks, links, and resources as well as some free stuff like sound effects and copyright-free music - All yours for the downloading. It's not quite ready yet, but when it is, you'll be the first to know and I'll post the link here.

Now I'm going to sort out my Video Studio (it's actually more of a large cupboard full of junk, but "Video Studio" sounds posher)

That's all for now
Have a good'un.

Meejah - Start making videos now.

Hi, I'm William Huw and I like making Youtube videos.

Now I know that there are lots of people out there that would like to be making videos for Youtube (and other places), but they believe that it's all beyond them. They think that it's all incredibly difficult (it's not), extremely technical (it doesn't have to be), and that they will have to buy lots of expensive equipment (they won't).

In fact, if you probably have everything you need to start making videos that you can publish on Youtube (and other places), right now.

So I have decided to make a blog that will show you how to do just that. How anyone can make some pretty good videos even if they have no budget and little to no equipment.

Each blog will be accompanied with a Youtube video, so you can see for yourself exactly what it is I'm banging on about. All the videos will be posted to TheMeejahChannel - my Youtube channel. If you would like to subscribe (it's free), here's the link: TheMeejahChannel

Once you have begun making and posting videos, you can even start to make money from them (it's not difficult), OK you probably won't make your fortune from them (well, not right away anyway), but you can cerrtainly make some pretty decent pocket-money to begin with, which could be a big help if you decide that you do want to buy some expensive equipment later on  :)

So don't delay. Make sure you get the lowdown on all the videomaking tips, tricks and wrinkles that will be coming this way by subscribing to this blog.
See you at the Oscars.
